And then I was all like, "Well that's very small-minded of me to assume this is a child's art. Maybe it's a Basquiat-inspired rendition of our home." Which made me immediately feel like a pretentious fool. And also a bit weird that I talk out loud to the mail.
So I just went with my natural gut reaction: It's obviously a ransom note and a crazy person is subtly letting us know that they know where we live. Maybe they're even sitting outside the house in their car and scrawling notes with those extra thick markers that kind of smell good even though it's a chemical deliciousness.
Well the truth came out and it was just our friends Stan and Amy sending a welcome package. The drawing turned out to be from their two adorable kids. Although maybe one day they will have a propensity toward ransom note art? Who knows, I can't predict the future. Regardless of who made it with and what motives, I still get a special thrill getting old-school style mail.
