So while Pete was away on a business trip last week I tried my hardest to get a few projects completed.
Goal: Get rid of all the trash in the back yard!
Accomplished: Getting rid of 1/3 of the trash.
Goal: Finish poly coating the ground floor sitting room floor!
Accomplished: Now only two coats away from completion.
Goal: Finish painting guest room!
Accomplished: Finished painting guest room (with help from Beth and Nicole)!
Goal: Finish painting second floor living room!
Accomplished: Finished painting the walls and trim, but didn't complete the ceiling.
I achieved minor success with the week's goals. But I was feeling itchy to get things in order. No one likes coming home to disarray and I know the construction zone we were living in was starting to claw at Pete's psyche. I was at a standstill with getting work done because I needed to wait on an electrician and plumber to take a look at the kitchen before we finished the floors or walls. So I did what I do best: I bought things. Random things. Non-essential home things.
My favorite part of decorating is surrounding myself with objects that I love and feel inspired by. I have no doubt they will all find a place in our new home and, until things are ready to be dressed, I'll enjoy the brief feeling of accomplishment that hunting down these pieces brought me. (Even if, in some cases, I have no idea why I bought them.)
